The 2020 Census is coming. Every 10 years, the federal government aims to count every resident in the United States through the census. This data dictates everything from seats in U.S. Congress to billions of dollars in federal funding for local programs.

      What to Expect
Starting in March 2020, households will start receiving postcards from the U.S. Census Bureau with an invitation to complete the census online or over the phone. Residents can also request a paper census form or an in-person interview. In early May 2020, the Bureau will begin sending field staff out to visit households who have not yet responded to gather the information in person.
